Arnold extended their losing streak to seven on Friday, dropping them down to 7-10. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost an 8-7 heartbreaker at the hands of the Mosley Dolphins. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Dolphins this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 5-0 on Tuesday.
Kaeden Holmes made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Anthony Achon, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI.
As for Mosley, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-5 record this season. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win they have posted since February 26th.
On Mosley's side, Peyton Williams made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. The dominant performance also gave Williams a new career-high in strikeouts (four). He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played.
In other pitching news, Carter Payne looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.
Back at the plate, Brayden Nelson and Xavier Demro did most of the damage at the plate: Nelson went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and one RBI, while Demro went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. Those two hits gave Nelson a new career-high.
Arnold wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 2-1 victory against Hayden on the 30th. As for Mosley, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Crestview at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
