Softball Recap: Whippany Park Starts Season with Victory on the Road

Whippany Park had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They blew past the Pequannock Golden Panthers 16-3 on Tuesday. The Wildcats haven't had any issues with the Golden Panthers recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Kiera Swartz was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She pitched five innings while giving up three earned runs off four hits. Swartz was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, Whippany Park let Julia Beers and Jaeden Antonelli run wild. Beers scored three runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-4, while Antonelli scored three runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-4. Those two hits gave Antonelli a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Michaella Metz, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.

Looking ahead, a feisty cat fight will be fought as Whippany Park Wildcats take on Hackettstown Tigers at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Pequannock, they will host Madison at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
