Wallenberg is 7-2 against Marshall since January of 2018, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Wallenberg Bulldogs will be playing at home against the Marshall Phoenix at 5:30 p.m. Given that both teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.
After a string of nine wins, Wallenberg's good fortune finally ran out on Monday. They took a 36-31 hit to the loss column at the hands of Lycee Francais. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Wallenberg has scored all season.
Meanwhile, Marshall unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Wednesday. They fell 52-42 to KIPP SF College Prep. Marshall has not had much luck with KIPP SF College Prep recently, as the team's come up short the last five times they've met.
Despite their defeat, Marshall saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Martel Peters, who scored 16 points along with five rebounds and four steals, was perhaps the best of all. Peters has been hot recently, having posted four or more steals the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Jorge Aceves, who scored eight points along with five rebounds and five steals.
Wallenberg's defeat ended a seven-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 13-9. As for Marshall, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-12.
Everything came up roses for Wallenberg against Marshall when the teams last played back in January as the squad secured a 71-32 victory. Does Wallenberg have another victory up their sleeve, or will Marshall turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
