Mitchell and Fivay are an even 5-5 against one another since December of 2015, but not for long. The Mitchell Mustangs will venture away from home to square off against the Fivay Falcons at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Mitchell is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 55.2 points per game this season.
Fivay better have a healthy lead at halftime, because if last week is any indication, that's when Mitchell really get things going. Everything went Mitchell's way against Nature Coast Tech on Wednesday as Mitchell made off with a 65-44 victory. Given the Mustangs' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 157th, while the Sharks are ranked 410th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Kaylana Little continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, almost dropping a triple-double on 23 points, nine rebounds, and ten steals. She has been hot, having posted two or more steals the last eight times she's played. Another player making a difference was Brianna Coure, who went 5 for 12 en route to 12 points along with six boards and five steals.
Mitchell smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 34 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've posted since back in December of 2024.
Meanwhile, Fivay was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They took a 38-31 hit to the loss column at the hands of Zephyrhills.
Mitchell will have to contain Naimah Mota as she made an impact in Fivay's last game. She almost dropped a double-double on nine points and nine rebounds. The dominant performance also gave Mota a new career-high in blocks (three).
Mitchell has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 14-5 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.4 points per game. As for Fivay, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-10.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Mitchell has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 37.9 boards per game. However, it's not like Fivay struggles in that department as they've been averaging 36.1 rebounds. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Everything came up roses for Mitchell against Fivay when the teams last played back in December of 2023, as the squad secured a 55-20 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Mitchell since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
