Even though the Highland Tech Rams have not done well against the Thomas Jefferson Gryphons recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Highland Tech snuck past Thomas Jefferson with a 48-44 victory. Highland Tech didn't have much to brag about two games back, but this victory makes it their second in a row.
Highland Tech's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Elijah Whitted, who scored 16 points along with seven steals and six rebounds. Elijah Sherrill was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with nine rebounds.
Highland Tech's win bumped their record up to 6-11. As for Thomas Jefferson, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-9.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Highland Tech won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Sugar Creek at 7:30 p.m. on January 24th. One thing working in Sugar Creek's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last eight matches. As for Thomas Jefferson, they will be playing at home against Pinnacle Classical Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Pinnacle Classical Academy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 28 last Monday.
