Briarcrest Christian can now show off 11 landslide victories after their most recent match on Thursday. They were the clear victor by a 58-33 margin over St. Agnes Academy. Given Briarcrest Christian's advantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 95th, while the Stars are ranked 227th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Kendall Jones and Hallie Turner were among the main playmakers for Briarcrest Christian as the former scored 11 points along with eight steals and the latter scored ten points along with five assists and five rebounds. Jones has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last six times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Ellen Adair, who scored six points along with four steals.
Meanwhile, St. Mary's Episcopal was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Monday as they fell 41-37 to the Stars.
Briarcrest Christian's win ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 15-10. As for St. Mary's Episcopal, they dropped their record down to 1-6 with that loss, which was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season.
Everything came up roses for Briarcrest Christian against the Turkeys when the teams last played two weeks ago as the squad secured a 66-26 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Briarcrest Christian since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
