Cherokee Christian is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They came out on top against Cornerstone Prep Academy by a score of 13-9 on Tuesday.
Alex Hayes was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 4.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Hayes was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with one RBI.
In other batting news, Gabe Mccure was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances. Will McCure also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Harvester Christian Academy, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Monday. They walked away with a 4-1 win over Atlanta Jewish Academy on Tuesday. The victory continues a trend for the Hawks in their matchups with the Jaguar: they've now won five in a row.
Like Cherokee Christian, Harvester Christian Academy also got a great game from a two-way player: Ryland Nichols. He pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Nichols was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Lleyton Tsai, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3.
Cherokee Christian pushed their record up to 3-3 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.3 runs over those games.
