Baseball Game Preview: Blair Bears vs. Norris Titans

Blair is preparing for their first district matchup of the season on Tuesday. They will welcome the Norris Titans at 5:00 p.m. Blair is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.1 runs per game this season.

Blair barely beat York the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Bears never let the Dukes get on the board and left with a 6-0 win on Friday. The result was nothing new for the Bears, who have now won five contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Brevin Leggott was incredible, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Blair is 7-1 when Leggott posts two or more runs, but 2-4 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Josh Stephenson, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

Meanwhile, Norris faced Standing Bear in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Titans fell just short of the Grizzlies by a score of 3-2. The Titans have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Anden Papik was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out six batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits (and only one walk). He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run any time he's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Norris saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Max Mierau, who went 1-for-3 with one RBI.

Blair is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-5 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for Norris, their loss dropped their record down to 9-5.

Blair was able to grind out a solid win over Norris when the teams last played last Friday, winning 13-9. Will the Bears repeat their success, or do the Titans have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
