The Williams Vikings's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their third straight loss. They took a hard 59-43 fall against Rock Point. Williams has not had much luck with Rock Point recently, as the team's come up short the last eight times they've met.
Williams' defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kai Mortensen , who scored 12 points along with 7 rebounds and 3 steals. Mortensen scored a full 27.9% of Williams' points, the eighth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kyliegh Amos, who scored 10 points along with 8 rebounds.
Williams' defeat dropped their record down to 5-4. As for Rock Point, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 6-2.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Williams will take on Red Mesa at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Red Mesa focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 31 on Tuesday. As for Rock Point, they will head out on the road to face off against Valley at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
