Softball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Sunset

Sunset strolled into their game on Monday with a perfect record and they left with the same. They blew past the Gresham Gophers 18-1.

The team relied heavily on Kaia McKenna, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three stolen bases, and five RBI. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in runs (three). Another player making a difference was Shelby Townsend, who scored three runs while going 3-for-4.

Sunset always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .606. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Gresham only posted an OBP of .263.

Sunset pushed their record up to 3-0 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average this season. As for Gresham, their loss dropped their record down to 0-2.

Sunset didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 17-0 victory against Cleveland on the 24th. Gresham has also already played their next matchup (against Estacada), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
