With a playoff game on the line, the Hollins Royals rose to the challenge on Tuesday. They came out on top against the Warriors by a score of 58-51. That's another feather in the cap for Hollins, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Leading Hollins to victory were Aidan Lemons and Josh Castallani. Lemons scored 19 points, while Castallani dropped a double-double on 18 points and 11 rebounds. Lemons continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Malachi Miller, who scored 11 points along with five rebounds.
When it comes to explaining why Osceola lost, one person who can't be blamed is Talon Brooks. Despite the final result, he scored 18 points along with three steals. That was a full 35.3% of Osceola's points, marking the fifth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Eleven Williams, who scored 12 points.
Osceola struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only two offensive rebounds. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Hollins pulled down ten offensive rebounds.
Hollins has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 15-11 record this season. As for Osceola, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-12.
Hollins is on the road again on Thursday and plays Seminole on February 8th. Hollins knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past five matchups -- so hopefully Seminole likes a good challenge. Osceola does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
