Fort Lupton's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Maddie Beverly led the charge by putting up 17 points along with seven boards and six steals. Beverly has become a key player for Fort Lupton: the team is 8-1 when she posts at least five steals, but 3-6 otherwise. Marely Gomez was another key player, earning ten points in addition to eight assists and seven steals.
Fort Lupton smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 12 offensive boards in 11 consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, Jefferson entered their tilt with Alameda on Tuesday with four consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with five. They came out on top against the Pirates by a score of 45-32.
Jefferson's win came from a few key players Fort Lupton will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was T Nutter, who posted eight points along with 22 rebounds and four blocks. She has been hot, having posted 14 or more boards the last five times she's played. Another player making a difference was Sara Sylvester, who went 5-for-8 en route to 15 points.
Fort Lupton pushed their record up to 11-7 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 26.0 points over those games. As for Jefferson, their record now sits at 12-6.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Fort Lupton has been crashing the boards this season, having averaged 35.9 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Jefferson struggles in that department as they've been averaging 33.2 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Fort Lupton lost to Jefferson on the road by a decisive 46-31 margin in their previous matchup back in January of 2024. Can Fort Lupton avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
