Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but unfortunately for The Fallsburg Comets, they weren't the ones who walked away with it. They fell just short of Sullivan West by a score of 22-20. Fallsburg has struggled against Sullivan West recently, as their match on Friday was their eighth consecutive lost matchup.
Several Comets players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Donovan Hart, who picked up 120 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Nick Storms was another key contributor, throwing for 176 yards and two touchdowns.
Among those leading the charge was Rally Cruz, who rushed for 118 yards and a touchdown on only 13 carries.
On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Sullivan West's defense and their three sacks. Leading the way was Cruz and his two sacks.
Fallsburg's loss was their third straight on the road , which bumped their record down to 5-3. As for Sullivan West, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests, which somehow isn't as good as their 7-1 record this season.
Fallsburg does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Sullivan West will take on Pawling at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Pawling is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt want to keep things rolling.
