Softball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for the First Academy

The First Academy won the last time they faced Trinity Catholic and things went their way on Monday too. The Royals blew past the Celtics 8-2. The Royals might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five matchups by six runs or more this season.

Alaina Surber spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on three hits and racked up ten Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, The First Academy let Luna Taboas and Elissa Moore run wild. Taboas went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, two doubles, and two RBI, while Moore went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one triple. That's the most stolen bases Moore has posted since back in April of 2025. Another player making a difference was Abby Bonnett, who went 2-for-3 with three runs and one stolen base.

The victory was the third in a row for The First Academy, bringing their record up to 7-2. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Trinity Catholic, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-3.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. The First Academy will head out to take on Harmony at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Trinity Catholic, they will venture away from home to face off against Crystal River at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
