Florence/Henry faced Castlewood in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Falcons beat the Warriors by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 5-1. The victory was nothing new for the Falcons as they're now sitting on six straight.
Elizabeth Reiter was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out nine batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with three stolen bases.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ashelyn Klitzke, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season. Another player making a difference was Emma Caulfield, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with two runs.
Florence/Henry's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-1.
