Kennewick is on a seven-game streak of home wins (dating back to last season), while Mountain View is on a four-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Kennewick Lions will take on the Mountain View Thunder at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Kennewick knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past five matches -- so hopefully Mountain View likes a good challenge.
Kennewick put the finishing touches on their seventh blowout victory of the season on Saturday. They really took it to Mercer Island for the full four quarters, racking up a 38-0 victory at home. Given Kennewick's advantage in MaxPreps' Washington football rankings (they are ranked 11th, while Mercer Island is ranked 101st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, with a playoff game on the line, Mountain View rose to the challenge on Saturday. They strolled past Edmonds-Woodway with points to spare, taking the game 42-28.
Porter Drake was his usual excellent self, rushing for 238 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 11.9 yards per carry. Cash Cook was another key contributor, rushing for 83 yards and two touchdowns.
Their wins lifted both teams to an identical 9-1.
