Forge Christian is a perfect 7-0 against Jefferson Academy since September of 2022 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. Julianna Alfaro spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on five hits and racked up seven Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Vivian Stults, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.
Meanwhile, after low-scoring totals in their previous three contest, Jefferson Academy brought some dynamite into their most recent game. Everything went their way against Jefferson on Wednesday as they made off with a 16-6 win. The Jaguars haven't had any issues with the Saints recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.
Aubrey Cox made a big impact no matter where she played. She struck out eight batters over six innings while giving up five earned (and one unearned) runs off seven hits. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in August. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with two runs.
In other batting news, Ellie Arnold was a standout: she got on base in all four of her plate appearances with four runs, two stolen bases, and two RBI. Daelin Ruff was another key player, going a perfect 4-for-4 with four runs and two stolen bases.
Jefferson Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .586. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .312 or higher in seven consecutive matchups.
Forge Christian's win bumped their record up to 19-3. As for Jefferson Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 6-14-1.
Jefferson Academy's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Forge Christian has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 11.3 hits per game. It's a different story for Jefferson Academy, though, as they've been averaging 10.7 hits. Given Forge Christian's sizable advantage in that area, the Jaguars will need to find a way to close that gap.
Forge Christian took their win against Jefferson Academy when the teams last played last Tuesday by a conclusive 18-2 score. Will the Fury repeat their success, or do the Jaguars have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
