Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but unfortunately for The Hesston Swathers, they weren't the ones who walked away with it. They took a serious blow against Clay Center on Friday, falling 47-6. Hesston was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Clay Center apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in October of 2019.
Reed Friesen rushed for 11 yards and a touchdown. Jackson Fry was his top target, picking up 122 receiving yards.
Clay Center was led to victory by Cole Pladson and Brody Hayes. Pladson rushed for 82 yards and a touchdown on only eight carries, while Hayes gained 145 total yards and three touchdowns.
Hesston's defeat dropped their record down to 5-5. As for Clay Center, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 9-1.
Hesston does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Clay Center will face off against Cheney at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Cheney is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
