On Friday Heppner take on Weston-McEwen at 7:00 PM. The two teams are strolling into their matchup after big wins in their previous games.
Heppner might be getting used to good results now that the team have four wins in a row. They steamrollered Irrigon 38-2. Junior Mason Lehman was the offensive standout of the match for Heppner, as he rushed for 100 yards and 3 touchdowns. Lehman has now scored at least one touchdown in the past five games.
Meanwhile, Weston-McEwen got themselves on the board against Riverside last Friday, but Riverside never followed suit. Weston-McEwen put a hurting on Riverside to the tune of 67-0. Weston-McEwen were expected to win, but the margin was definitely larger than the state rankings had forecast.
Their wins bumped Heppner to 4-2 and Weston-McEwen to 2-3. Given their high-scoring efforts against their previous opponents, it will be interesting to see how far up these teams can run up the score.
