After flying high against the Family Christian Warriors on Tuesday, the Divine Savior Academy - Sienna Rays came back down to earth. Divine Savior Academy - Sienna took a 41-37 hit to the loss column at the hands of Brazosport Christian. Divine Savior Academy - Sienna has struggled against Brazosport Christian recently, as their match on Thursday was their third consecutive lost matchup.
Despite the loss, Divine Savior Academy - Sienna saw an underclassman step up: Elijah Cortright dropped a double-double on 12 points and 13 rebounds. The matchup was Cortright's third in a row with at least ten points. Jacob Abboud was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with seven rebounds.
Brazosport Christian got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Elijah Burris out in front who scored 15 points along with three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Carson Catoe, who scored six points along with eight steals and five assists.
Divine Savior Academy - Sienna now has a losing record at 1-2. As for Brazosport Christian, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 7-2.
Divine Savior Academy - Sienna will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against Allen Academy at 2:30 p.m. on December 8th. Allen Academy has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Brazosport Christian, they will head out on the road to face off against Varsity Opponent at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Varsity Opponent is out to stop a nine-game streak of losses at home.
