Basketball Recap: Anson Falls Despite Big Games from Sada Clark and Za'kiah Hixson

Anson was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They lost 56-33 to the Piedmont Panthers. The Bearcats were down 44-20 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.

Anson's loss came despite strong showings from Za'Kiah Hixson and Sada Clark. Hixson almost dropped a double-double on 11 points and nine rebounds, while Clark posted 14 points and four steals. The dominant performance gave Clark a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Komoria Chambers, who earned four points in addition to eight boards and three steals.

Even though they lost, Anson smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive rebounds in four consecutive games.

Anson's defeat dropped their record down to 8-13. As for Piedmont, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-12.

Anson won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against West Stanly at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Piedmont, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Parkwood at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
