Three missed two-point conversions cost
Tarboro (N.C.) as it fell 24-20 to
East Lincoln (Denver, N.C.).
The Mustangs led 17-6 at halftime, but the Vikings recaptured the lead on a rushing touchdown with 3:00 to go in the third. East Lincoln grabbed hold of the lead when
Garrett Young thew a touchdown to
Tyler Brock with 8:00 left in the fourth quarter, and never relinquished it.
By the end of the third, EL found itself trailing by 3 points as Tarboro captured the lead thanks to three scores in the quarter. THS scored on a safety, a rushing touchdown and a touchdown run in the quarter.
The Denver school didn't take the lead for good until the the fourth quarter when Young thew a touchdown to Brock.
Young was the top performer for the Mustangs. The senior quarterback threw two touchdowns.
The defeat comes as a step back for Tarboro, which notched a 46-0 victory over South Columbus in its previous outing.
In a playoff game next week East Lincoln (16-0) takes on Tarboro, and Tarboro (14-1) will go up against East Lincoln also in a playoff game.
