The Baker Gators were the 37-30 winner over the Laurel Hill Hoboes when they last played one another back in January of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Baker took a 50-41 hit to the loss column at the hands of Laurel Hill on Thursday.
Several Gators players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Mckenzie Mcgraw, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 12 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Katerina Price, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 12 rebounds.
Even though they lost, Baker were working as a unit and finished the game with 11 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Laurel Hill only posted three assists.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Laurel Hill to victory, but perhaps none more so than Laramie Boykin, who scored 12 points along with two steals. Boykin has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times she's played. Aiyana Dixon was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 13 points and 19 rebounds.
Baker's loss dropped their record down to 6-8. As for Laurel Hill, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 8-4.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Baker won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Gulf Pointe Latin at 5:30 p.m. on January 19th. Gulf Pointe Latin's defense has only allowed 26.4 points per game this season, so Baker's offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Laurel Hill, they will be playing at home against Baker at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
