Winning is just a little bit easier when you work as a team to rack up 11 more assists than your opponent, a fact the Bolles Bulldogs proved on Tuesday. They took down Paxon School For Advanced Studies 67-50. Given Bolles' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 12th, while Paxon School For Advanced Studies is ranked 98th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Bolles got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Presley Norman out in front who scored 18 points along with six assists. Those 18 points set a new season-high mark for her. The team also got some help courtesy of Abby Knauff, who scored 13 points along with six assists and six rebounds.
Ansley Hicks and Reese Holman certainly did their best on Tuesday to try and avoid the loss. Hicks scored 13 points along with five rebounds, while Holman scored 11 points along with nine rebounds. Those nine rebounds set a new season-high mark for her. Another player making a difference was Kennedy Waymer, who scored 12 points along with three steals.
Even though they lost, Paxon School For Advanced Studies were working as a unit and finished the game with 11 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.
The victory makes it two in a row for Bolles and bumps their season record up to 5-1. As for Paxon School For Advanced Studies, their loss dropped their record down to 4-2.
Bolles will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Tocoi Creek at 7:30 p.m. Hopefully Tocoi Creek focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 17 on Tuesday. As for Paxon School For Advanced Studies, they will head out on the road to face off against Mandarin at 7:00 p.m. on December 14th. Mandarin will be coming into the game with an undefeated record on the line.
