Deming is 6-1 against Cobre since November of 2015, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Thursday. The Deming Wildcats will be home for the holidays to greet the Cobre Indians at 6:00 p.m. The pair have had a bumpy ride up to this point with four consecutive losses apiece.
Last Tuesday, Deming suffered a rough 62-41 loss at the hands of Organ Mountain. While losing is never fun, Deming can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New Mexico basketball rankings (they are ranked 95th, while Organ Mountain is ranked 27th).
Meanwhile, Cobre had to suffer through a rough 70-38 loss at the hands of Lordsburg. Cobre has not had much luck with Lordsburg recently, as the team's come up short the last six times they've met.
Deming's defeat dropped their record down to 2-5. As for Cobre, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost five of their last six games, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-6 record this season.
Everything came up roses for Deming against Cobre when the teams last played back in December of 2022 as the squad secured a 48-21 victory. Will Deming repeat their success, or does Cobre have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
