The Arcata Tigers entered their tilt with the McKinleyville Panthers with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. Arcata took their game on the road on Monday with ease, bagging a 65-37 win over McKinleyville. The match was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 33-12.
Leading Arcata to victory were Dawson Vallerga and Luke Lemke. Vallerga scored 16 points along with two steals, while Lemke scored 20 points along with seven rebounds and two blocks. Lemke continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jack Luh, who scored nine points along with seven rebounds.
Despite the defeat, McKinleyville saw an underclassman step up: Bode Douglass scored 11 points.
Arcata has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 15-10 record this season. As for McKinleyville, their loss dropped their record down to 17-10.
Arcata's road trip will continue as they head out to face Hoopa Valley at 6:00 p.m. on February 8th. One thing working in Arcata's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last four matches. As for McKinleyville, they won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Fortuna at 7:00 p.m. on February 6th. McKinleyville is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 52.9 points per game this season.
