The Currituck County Knights were the 43-36 winner over the Hertford County Bears when they last played one another back in December of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Currituck County took a 49-45 hit to the loss column at the hands of Hertford County. Currituck County has been going strong on the season, but this is now their second defeat in a row.
Several Knights players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Riley Parker, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 12 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Parker has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Arianna White, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 13 rebounds.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Hertford County to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jaliyah Mitchell, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 11 rebounds. That makes it five consecutive games in which Mitchell has scored at least a third of Hertford County's points. Adarielle Townsell was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on ten points and 14 rebounds.
Currituck County has been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-5 record this season. As for Hertford County, the victory was the eighth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 10-5.
Currituck County will head out on the road to square off against Albemarle School at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Albemarle School focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up eight on Tuesday. As for Hertford County, they will be playing at home against Holmes at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Holmes and Hertford County are at an even 5-5 over their past ten head-to-heads.
