In what's become a running theme this season, the Maret Frogs gave their fans yet another huge win on Friday. They claimed a resounding 72-45 win over Flint Hill at home. Given Maret's advantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 14th in District of Columbia, while Flint Hill is ranked 65th in Virginia), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Claire Mathews had a dynamite game for Maret, going 8 for 11 from beyond the arc en route to 24 points and 2 assists. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Mathews has scored all season. Another player making a difference was River Adams, who scored ten points along with five steals.
Maret's win bumped their record up to 14-9. As for Flint Hill, they have not been sharp recently as the team has lost 11 of their last 12 matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-15 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Maret will face off against Connelly School of the Holy Child at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Flint Hill, they will head out on the road to take on St. Andrew's Episcopal at 5:45 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with five consecutive losses for St. Andrew's Episcopal and four for Flint Hill.
