Ventura is 0-10 against Oxnard since March of 2020 but things could change on Tuesday. The Cougars will head out on the road to challenge the Yellowjackets at 3:30 p.m. Both teams are coming into the game red-hot, with Ventura sitting on nine straight wins and Oxnard on four.
Ventura gave up the first runs last Friday, but they didn't let that get them down. They walked away with a 19-14 victory over Pacifica.
Jessie Sebek made a big impact no matter where she played. She pitched seven innings while giving up four earned (and ten unearned) runs off 11 hits. Sebek was also big at the plate, going 3-for-6 with two RBI and one double.

In other batting news, Makayla Halley was incredible, scoring three runs while going 5-for-6. Those five hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Tessa Denger, who scored four runs while going 2-for-6.
Ventura hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in 12 consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Oxnard was able to grind out a solid win over Buena on Monday, taking the game 6-1.
Rachel Godoy spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on five hits and racked up ten Ks.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Kayla Lorona, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4. Shyanne Saxton was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-1.
Ventura pushed their record up to 13-2 with the victory, which was their sixth straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.8 runs on average over those games. As for Oxnard, their record is now 12-4-1.
Tuesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Ventura hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .361. However, it's not like Oxnard struggles in that department as they've averaged .382. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Ventura suffered a grim 10-0 defeat to Oxnard in their previous meeting back in March of 2024. Can the Cougars avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
