The Camden Central Lions will head out to challenge the Summertown Eagles at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Camden Central is looking for their season's first win.
Camden Central came up short against Covington on Thursday, falling 13-1. The match marked the Lions' lowest-scoring game so far this season.
Camden Central saw eight different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Carter Maines, who scored a run while going 2-for-2. That's the most hits Maines has posted since back in May of 2024. Carl Baker was another, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base and one RBI.
Even though they lost, Camden Central always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .571. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Summertown got themselves on the board against Wayne County on Friday, but Wayne County never followed suit. They blew past the Wildcats 12-0. The contest marked the Eagles' most dominant victory of the season so far.
Summertown also got a great performance from Elijah Huckaba as he didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. Huckaba has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than one walk in five consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Ryder Blackwood was a standout: he scored two runs and stole Two bases. while going 3-for-4. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Cason Blackwood, who scored three runs and stole Two bases. while going 3-for-4.
The win made it two in a row for Summertown and bumps their season record up to 3-3. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.5 runs on average over those games. As for Camden Central, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-5.
Camden Central came up short against Summertown when the teams last played back in March of 2015, falling 9-6. Can Camden Central avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
