Belmont's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Denzell Ogle led the charge by dropping a double-double on 15 points and 11 rebounds. Ogle set a new season high mark in steals with four. Another player making a difference was Damarion Calahan, who scored 15 points along with five assists.
When it comes to explaining why Stivers School for the Arts lost, one person who can't be blamed is Amaury Hawes. Despite the final result, he scored 24 points along with five steals. That's the first time this season that Hawes scored 15 or more points. Gavin Wright was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with three steals.
Belmont's win ended a seven-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 2-3. As for Stivers School for the Arts, they bumped their record down to 1-4 with that loss, which was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season.
