Football Recap: Cameron Horne's Menacing Defense Leads Newton over Grovetown + How To Watch

Newton won the last time they faced Grovetown and Kevin Hartsfield did his part to make sure it happened again. The Rams blew past the Warriors 30-0 on Friday with plenty of help from Hartsfield, who rushed for 100 yards and two touchdowns on only nine carries. He has become a key player for Newton: the team is 3-1 when he posts at least 80 rushing yards, but 1-2 otherwise.

On the defensive side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Newton's defense and their eight sacks. Cameron Horne was particularly dangerous to the passing game, picking up two himself. He is also on a roll when it comes to total tackles, as he's now made seven or more in each of the last four games he's played. Zacari Lawrence was another major factor on D, picking up a sack, forcing two fumbles, and making 11 total tackles.

Newton's win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 4-3. As for Grovetown, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-4.

We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. Newton is set to take on their familiar foe Heritage at 7:30 p.m. on the 17th. That matchup will pit two of the most dominant backs against one another: Hartsfield and Joshua Taylor. Meanwhile, Grovetown will face off against rival Archer at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
