Boone County dropped down to 8-16 on Thursday, ending the team's three-game streak of wins. They lost 15-5 to the Walton-Verona Bearcats. If the Rebels were looking for revenge after losing 14-0 to the Bearcats when the teams met back in March of 2023, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Gabe Goodridge made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and one double. Boone County is 2-1 when Goodridge posts three or more RBI, but 6-15 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Ayden Kays, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, one double, and one RBI.
As for Walton-Verona, their victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 21-13. The result was nothing new for the Bearcats, who have now won 14 contests by six runs or more so far this season.
On Walton-Verona's side, Will Hurles made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Hurles has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Walton-Verona got a massive performance out of Bronson Corpus, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most stolen bases Corpus has posted since back in April. Miles Lemkuhl was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.
As of now, neither Boone County nor Walton-Verona have any future games scheduled.
