Camarillo extended the longest winning streak in Pacific View this week by beating Pacifica, 31-26. The win marks seventh in a row for the the Scorpions.
Rio Mesa took down Hueneme 62-6 last week, the largest margin of any game. Kado Brown threw for 22 yards and ran for 96 yards in the win.
The Tritons' dynamic duo of Nick Davis and Taraun Nixon proved tough for Camarillo to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Davis threw for 171 yards and three touchdowns and Nixon had 129 yards receiving. Kevin Davis helped Pacifica's passing attack out by catching two balls for 55 yards.
Adam Espinosa was the most productive running back in the league this week. In 24 carries, he ran for 139 yards as Oxnard lost to Dennis Riedmiller's team. Andrew Valenzuela also contributed to the rushing game with 69 yards on the ground.
The Scorpions' Travis Valdez and Corbin Covey have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Valdez has thrown for 2318 yards this season, while Covey, a 5-foot-8 receiver, has 94 catches for 961 yards. The Yellowjackets' Espinosa leads the league in rushing yards with 1181.
Donnie Rea's team's Adam Maciel needs only 89 yards against Oxnard next week to surpass 1,000 rushing yards for the season. Maciel has rushed for 911 yards on 173 carries so far this year.
Camarillo's Covey needs only 39 receiving yards against the Spartans to crack 1,000 for the season.
A big matchup in Pacific View this week will be when Rio Mesa takes on the Scorpions. As it stands, Bob Gregorchuk's team is in fourth, while Camarillo is in first.
The Scorpions and the Tritons played the most hotly contested game in the league this week, with the Scorpions eventually emerging with a 31-26 victory.
