Given Rensselaer Central's advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked seventh, while Benton Central is ranked 40th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Rensselaer Central's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Carly Drone, who scored 14 points. The matchup was Drone's fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Cadence Manns, who scored 12 points along with 5 assists.
Rensselaer Central pushed their record up to 11-0 with that victory, which was their fourth straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.0 points per game. As for Benton Central, their loss dropped their record down to 5-2.
Rensselaer Central will head out on the road to face off against Delphi Community at 8:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Delphi Community focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 28 last Thursday. As for Benton Central, they will be playing in front of their home fans against West Lafayette at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. West Lafayette has insisted on making their lastthree contests complete nail-biters, turning in a record of 0-3 during that stretch of close contests.
