Basketball Recap: Decatur Community Victorious

Decatur Community hadn't done well against Hill City recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Decatur Community Red Devils skirted past the Hill City Ringnecks 50-48. While the Red Devils didn't have the best season last year (they finished 6-16), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

It was another big night for Tyler Ostmeyer, who dropped a double-double on 26 points and 14 boards. Ostmeyer is crushing it when it comes to boards: he's pulled down at least ten every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Gage Williby, who posted 11 points in addition to eight assists and three steals.

Decatur Community smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in three consecutive games.

Despite the defeat, Hill City had strong showings from Carson Keith, who almost dropped a double-double on 19 points and nine boards, and Vincent Zohner, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 13 boards. What's more, Keith also racked up six steals, the most he's had since back in January. Another player making a difference was Koby Keiswetter, who had seven points.

Decatur Community's win bumped their record up to 4-1. As for Hill City, they now have a losing record at 1-2.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Decatur Community will welcome Trego at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Decatur Community is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 53.4 points per game this season. As for Hill City, they will host Hoxie on Friday.
