The Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City Bobcats will be staying on the road on Wednesday to face off against the Cumberland Pirates at 7:45 p.m. on December 13th. Hopefully Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 18 on Friday.
Last Friday, Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City suffered a tough 56-35 loss at the hands of Dieterich. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City in their matchups with Dieterich: they've now lost nine in a row.
Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of AJ Radloff, who scored 11 points along with nine rebounds, and Kaidyn Calame who scored eight points along with three steals. Those nine rebounds set a new season-high mark for Radloff.
Meanwhile, Cumberland narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Neoga 40-38. The victory was just what Cumberland needed coming off of a 49-20 defeat in their prior matchup.
Cumberland got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Cameron Roedl out in front who scored 12 points. Zack Buescher was another key contributor, scoring nine points.
Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City's loss was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 4-4. As for Cumberland, their victory bumped their record up to 3-4.
Wednesday's contest is shaping up to be a masterclass in shooting: Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City have been dynamite from deep this season, having made 56.3% of their threes per game. However, it's not like Cumberland struggles in that department as they've made 37.4% of their threes per game this season. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City came up short against Cumberland in their previous meeting back in December of 2016, falling 71-58. Thankfully for Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City, Tyson Magee (who scored 32 points along with five assists and five rebounds) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
