The Del Oro Golden Eagles pushed their score all the way to 66 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 70-66 hit to the loss column at the hands of Whitney. Del Oro was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Wildcats apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January.
Del Oro lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Caden Pinnick, who scored 23 points along with seven rebounds and six assists. Another player making a difference was Jake Williams, who scored 16 points along with seven rebounds and two steals.
Del Oro's loss dropped their record down to 19-7. As for Whitney, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 16-10.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Del Oro will take on the Trojans at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Oak Ridge and the Golden Eagles are at an even 5-5 over their past ten head-to-heads. As for Whitney, they will be playing at home against the Bulldogs at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. One thing working in Folsom's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last six matches.
