The Buckeye Bucks's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their eighth straight defeat. They received a tough blow as they fell 46-27 to Normandy. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Buckeye in their matchups with the Invaders: they've now lost four in a row.
When it comes to explaining why Buckeye lost, one person who can't be blamed is Ruby Hudak. Despite the final result, she scored nine points along with eight rebounds and three steals. It was the first time this season that Hudak pulled down eight or more rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Molly Danilovic, who scored four points along with eight rebounds.
It was another big night for Izzy Akin, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 20 rebounds for Normandy. Akin has been hot recently, having posted nine or more rebounds the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Sammi Perdue, who scored 13 points along with two steals and two blocks.
Buckeye dropped their record down to 1-19 with that defeat, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season. As for Normandy, the victory got them back to even at 8-8.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Buckeye will take on the Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Normandy, they will be playing at home against the Phoenix at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
