Having just played yesterday, the Hamilton Wildcats will get right back to it and host the Kirby Cougars at 6:00 p.m. on January 24th. Hamilton will be strutting in after a win while Kirby will be coming in after a defeat.
Hamilton's and Power Center Academy's game on Tuesday was close at halftime, but Hamilton turned on the heat in the second half with 49 points. Hamilton blew past Power Center Academy 69-36 on the road. For those curious, yes, that was the biggest win Hamilton has managed all season.
Hamilton can attribute much of their success to Jamyah Minnis, who dropped a triple-double on 19 points, 14 rebounds, and 12 steals, and Amare Boothe, who shot 4-for-5 from downtown and dropped a triple-double on 41 points, 12 rebounds, and 11 steals. That makes it 15 consecutive games in which Boothe has scored at least a third of Hamilton's points. Another player making a difference was Zanaiyah Woods, who scored four points along with five rebounds and two blocks.
Meanwhile, Kirby's recent rough patch got a bit rougher two weeks ago after their third straight loss. They took a hard 38-24 fall against Ridgeway.
Hamilton's win bumped their record up to 4-11. As for Kirby, they dropped their record down to 2-12 with that loss, which was their tenth straight on the road.
Hamilton skirted past Kirby 58-56 when the teams last played back in February of 2023. Does Hamilton have another victory up their sleeve, or will Kirby turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
