Victor is 9-1 against Rush-Henrietta since February of 2020, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Wednesday. The Victor Blue Devils will be playing in front of their home fans against the Rush-Henrietta Royal Comets at 7:15 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
On Monday, Victor didn't have too much breathing room in their match against McQuaid Jesuit, but they still walked away with a 61-56 win. The win was just what Victor needed coming off of a 81-57 defeat in their prior matchup.
Meanwhile, Rush-Henrietta came tearing into Friday's matchup with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 23 points) and they left with even more momentum. They had just enough and edged Penfield out 66-64. The win was all the more spectacular given Rush-Henrietta's disadvantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 162nd, while Penfield is ranked 44th).
Rush-Henrietta's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Jalen Taggart, who scored 22 points, and Avery Council, who scored 19 points along with six rebounds and four steals. Council has been hot recently, having posted 16 or more points the last six times he's played. Graylin Strong was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with two blocks.
Victor's victory bumped their record up to 7-4. As for Rush-Henrietta, their win bumped their record up to 11-8.
Victor strolled past Rush-Henrietta when the teams last played back in January by a score of 61-42. Does Victor have another victory up their sleeve, or will Rush-Henrietta turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
