The team relied heavily on Zach Murray, who went 3-for-4 with five stolen bases, six RBI, and four runs. He is becoming a predictor of Chichester's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 2-4 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Evan Valentine, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with four runs, two stolen bases, and one triple.
Chichester always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .737. They are 6-1 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Meanwhile, Delaware County Christian came up short against High Point Baptist Academy on Wednesday, falling 9-3.
Delaware County Christian saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Maden Longley, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run and one RBI. That RBI marked the first that Longley has brought in this season. Nathan Burd was another, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one RBI.
The win made it two in a row for Chichester and bumps their season record up to 6-4. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 3 runs in those games. As for Delaware County Christian, they now have a losing record of 2-3.
Both Chichester and Delaware County Christian just can't seem to miss. The Eagles have been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 11.9 hits per game. However, it's not like Delaware County Christian struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 4.8 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Chichester's way against Delaware County Christian in their previous matchup back in April of 2025, as Chichester made off with an 8-2 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Eagles since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
