Baseball Recap: Bishop Moore Wins Going Away Against Mount Dora

Bishop Moore never got on the board in their matchup last Friday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Mount Dora on Wednesday. They blew past the Hurricanes 14-3. The Hornets might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight contests by six runs or more this season.

Drew Kunz spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three runs (all of which were unearned) on five hits and racked up nine Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up a single earned run in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Jesiah Woodside was a standout: he went 3-for-4 with four RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Will Kane, who scored three runs while going 2-for-3.

Bishop Moore always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .545. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Mount Dora only posted an OBP of .160.

Bishop Moore is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-6 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Mount Dora, their defeat ended a six-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 16-7.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Bishop Moore will welcome The First Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Royals will roll in looking for their sixth straight victory, something the Hornets surely won't give up without a fight. As for Mount Dora, they will be playing at home against Atlantic at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Hurricanes are facing the Sharks at the right time seeing as the Sharks are stuck on a three-game losing streak.
