If the Cromwell Cardinals were riding high off their 70-34 takedown of the Barnum Bombers last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Cromwell fell just short of Proctor by a score of 59-56. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Cromwell in their matchups with Proctor: they've now lost four in a row.
Cromwell's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Siiena Anderson, who scored eight points along with five assists and two steals. Anderson is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last five games she's played. Isabella Anderson was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with six rebounds and four steals.
Cromwell's defeat dropped their record down to 10-5. As for Proctor, the victory was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 12-3.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Cromwell will take on Mesabi East at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in Mesabi East's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last four matchups. Proctor won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Hibbing at 7:15 p.m. on January 16th. The timing isn't great for Hibbing: they have been struggling with four straight losses at home, while Proctor has snatched up five consecutive wins on the road.
