After flying high against the Freedom Patriots last Tuesday, the Brandon Eagles came back down to earth. Brandon had to suffer through a rough 66-25 loss at the hands of Sumner. Brandon was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 41-12.
Despite the loss, Brandon still got an impressive performance from Julia Castany, who scored 16 points. Castany has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last three times she's played. Sofia Caserta was another key contributor, scoring five points.
Sumner got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Briana Gill-guyette out in front who scored 15 points along with four steals. Another player making a difference was Aryanah Duggan, who scored 11 points along with six rebounds and four steals.
Brandon's loss dropped their record down to 3-11. As for Sumner, they pushed their record up to 16-3 with that victory, which was their sixth straight on the road.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Brandon and Blake will face off at 6:00 p.m. on January 19th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. As for Sumner, they will head out on the road to take on King at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. King will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings (they are ranked 557th, while Sumner is ranked 114th).
