Harvard had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 2.3 goals) and they went ahead and made it five on Saturday. Their defense stepped up to hand the Maine East Blue Demons a 2-0 shutout. The final result isn't all the surprising considering Harvard's considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois soccer rankings (they are ranked 175th, while Maine East are ranked 383rd).

Harvard pushed their record up to 9-4-2 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored ten goals over those three games. As for Maine East, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-13.

Harvard wasted no time getting back out on the pitch and has already played their next match, a 3-1 loss against Waukegan on the 26th. As for Maine East, they will welcome Lincoln Park at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
