After flying high against the Potomac School Panthers last Saturday, the St. Stephen's & St. Agnes Saints came back down to earth. St. Stephen's & St. Agnes took a 60-52 hit to the loss column at the hands of William Penn Charter on Saturday. The match was a 24-24 toss-up at halftime, but St. Stephen's & St. Agnes was outscored by William Penn Charter in the second.
When it comes to explaining why St. Stephen's & St. Agnes lost, one person who can't be blamed is Riley Jacobs. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 13 points and 12 rebounds. Jacobs is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last seven games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Colin Pollock, who scored 12 points along with five rebounds.
St. Stephen's & St. Agnes' defeat dropped their record down to 7-6. As for William Penn Charter, the victory got them back to even at 6-6.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. St. Stephen's & St. Agnes will take on Riverdale Baptist at 3:00 p.m. on Monday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in their respective states (Riverdale Baptist is ranked 25th in Maryland, while St. Stephen's & St. Agnes is ranked 45th in Virginia). As for William Penn Charter, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Malvern Prep at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Malvern Prep is looking to tack on another W to their three-game streak on the road.
