DeSoto Central has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will challenge The Lewisburg Patriots at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Lewisburg took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on DeSoto Central, who comes in off a win.
Last Friday, DeSoto Central didn't have too much trouble with Horn Lake at home as they won 29-12.
DeSoto Central found their leader in underclassman Eric Perry, who rushed for 27 yards and a touchdown, and also threw for 173 yards and a touchdown. Ty Holmes also helped out with an impressive 89 receiving yards.
Meanwhile, there was early excitement for Lewisburg after they claimed the first score on Friday, but it was Oxford who ended up claiming the real prize. Lewisburg fell 35-28 to Oxford. It was the first time this season that Lewisburg let down their fans at home.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Gunner Gilmore, who threw for 309 yards and two touchdowns. Easton Fesmire was another key contributor, picking up 124 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
DeSoto Central's win bumped their record up to 5-5. As for Lewisburg, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-3.
Everything went DeSoto Central's way against Lewisburg in their previous meeting back in November of 2022 as DeSoto Central made off with a 35-14 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for DeSoto Central since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
