The Holy Child Gryphons will head out on the road to face off against the Hopkins Hilltoppers at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Holy Child is ranked highly in their home state, and on Saturday they took on another highly ranked team in the form of Greens Farms Academy. Holy Child was the victim of a tough 56-32 loss at the hands of Greens Farms Academy. Holy Child's defeat continues an unfortunate trend for the squad, making it three in a row.
Despite the defeat, Holy Child saw an underclassman step up: Sofia Verlezza scored 14 points.
Meanwhile, Hopkins took a serious blow against Rocky Hill Country Day back in December of 2023, falling 56-28. Hopkins was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 37-16.
Holy Child has traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last seven contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-12 record this season. As for Hopkins, their loss dropped their record down to 0-2.
Holy Child strolled past Hopkins in their previous meeting back in February of 2019 by a score of 61-44. The rematch might be a little tougher for Holy Child since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
