The Pine Crest Panthers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their third straight defeat. They took a 60-51 hit to the loss column at the hands of West Boca Raton. If Pine Crest was looking for revenge after losing 63-52 to them when the teams met, then they'll just have to keep looking.
Despite the defeat, Pine Crest saw an underclassman step up: Rowan Hoffman scored 27 points. That was a full 52.9% of Pine Crest's points, marking the seventh time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Dylan Wigoda, who scored 11 points.
Pine Crest's loss dropped their record down to 7-12. As for West Boca Raton, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-12.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Pine Crest will take on the Owls at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. FAU High is no doubt hoping to put an end to a ten-game streak of away losses. As for West Boca Raton, they won't have much time to rest: their next game is against the Chiefs at 7:30 p.m. on January 31st. Hopefully Santaluces focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 12 on Tuesday.
